Origin of Murt and Agria
The Island of Murtia used to be part of the Thurn empire. When Old Thurn disintegrated the magistrate of the island, Glemus, declared himself king of Murt in Northguard and held the island securely even as the time of blood devastated Retera. Glemus and the rest of the administers of Thurn on Murtia were dwarves. This minority of the population were granted enormous political advantage based on their race.
Centuries later a general, Torandian IV, lead a successful revolt against king Glemus V claiming Southguard. His attempt to claim the island and then pursue a more interventionist role in Retera was cut short by his human adviser Phabos of Westguard. Phabos turned the agenda of the army to the removal of the dwarven nobility from the city of Southguard. After the army had conquered almost all of the island south of Northguard, Phabos set up a council of five representing the five races most heavily represented on the island. The country of Agria is named after the meeting place of the council in Southguard.
